Mad for Vintage Glam

My husband and I got hooked on the Mad Men series this winter.  We watched all 2 seasons (via; Netflix), yes, well we don't watch tv only movies, so this was a treat.  If you love retro at it's best, then you'll love this show.  It makes me crazy for the fashions, and yes, I do wear vintage fake furs.  They are so much fun to wear out on the town, with jeans or when you are all dolled up. The vintage coats are so much warmer, they just don't make'em like they used to!
These are at the Old Creamery Antiques in Middlebury, along with a case of vintage jewelry.

Then the other day my sweet husband came home with this....
Now this is really what the show should be called, because girls, we have come along way!

If you watch the show it's so ironic how much cigarettes and alcohol they consumed back then!  and during work no less.  These bar items are also available at the Creamery.
Cheers Gals!

Brick and Mortar

Ok, so this is a hint of good things to come.  Yes, it's in South Bend, and yes it's historical.  Don't you love the space!  We are so excited for the upcoming French Market-Valentine Bash.

And this is the reason we are having a Valentines Bash-the walls!  They were done by the previous boutique.  And they will be painted immediately after the show.  But I do think they will be wonderful for valentines.

This is a big hint, part of the previous name and a bill board outside of the window.  Any guesses of where this is?  No fair playing if you've been told!

ABC Gum (All ready been chewed)

This is rude, crude and socially unacceptable, but if you  repurpose you will come across some pretty unexpected things, and not all pleasant!
I bought some really cool retro school chairs, and when we were loading them up I felt the gum on the bottom of the chair.  I offered my son $10.  to scrape and clean, and he said it wasn't worth it. He said  to just get a can of liquid nitrogen.  I wonder how he knew this?

So yesterday when it was a sunny, beautiful winter day with the high of 20 degree's, I asked my darling husband to help me haul all the chairs out doors, and low and behold, the gum came right off with a little scrapping.  So yes, this cold weather is good for something!

Resolutions

Christmas is packed away, and it's a time of quiet reflection and looking ahead to what I hope to achieve this year.  It's my belief that we can always make improvements in ourselves, inside and out.   And the same goes with our homes.  I have this instinct to clean out the old and re-do, update etc...

I have quite a few collections, some are packed away in boxes and others are displayed.  I get board easily just looking at some of them and change things around often.  Especially in the winter months when I am house bound more than summer.

Please make a resolution to think about each and every thing you dispose of, and make certain that if it's an item someone else could use, it gets donated.  Recycle all the items that don't have to go into the landfill.
I used to live on the big island of Hawaii, and that is where my oldest son Jeramiah was born.  I used disposable diapers and we would have to take our garbage to the dump.  It really affected me when I saw all the trash piling up, (think of all the hotels and all the waste in the restaurants).  Then I learned that they would ship trash to other states by barge.  Our earth is like that little island, it's filling up and there won't be any other place to put it.

The next two kids wore cloth diapers and my love relationship with mother nature began.  Compost piles, recycling bins, clothes lines, cloth napkins, buying in bulk, ....what will you do this year to help?  Please think green .

For leaving us a comment on what you will do, or some great green idea's.  We'll put your name in a drawing for a set of 8 handmade napkins and repurposed napkin rings.
