Spring Art Walk on Saturday

Ok, who does not like a walk on a sunny, spring day?  This is what gets me going every single day.  I'm so blessed to live in the most picturesque town.  This is the Pumpkin Vine Trail that goes to Krider Park.

In this park Linda & Bernie got married almost 3 years ago.

The old tressel l bridge that the trains used to take.

I used to see this windmill from SR13 and always wondered what it was.  The park was in despair and then they brought it back to life.  It was originally a world fair exhibit in the 40's (I think).  Then Krider's nursery built it here, and the nursery used to be across the street.

Back to my sweet little street.
So put a little spring in your step and head to South Bend for the Spring Art Walk.  We've been busy restocking with lots of new items.

AND THE WINNER IS......

My sis stopped in to bring me lunch (her yummy lemon pasta), so I had her draw a name out of the jar for the "Green Living Basket" and I'm overjoyed to announce the winner.....
Christyn Fertenbaugh
Christyn is a graduate student at Notre Dame, and her major~ Environmental Studies, she is going into the field of water conservation.  (Our kind of gal!).   Thank you everyone who bought tickets-there are no losers when you donate to a great cause, and I'm sure the Unity Gardens will be pleased as well.

My Little Town

Ok,  I know, North Carolina is beautiful, but so is my sweet little town of Middlebury, Indiana.  This was at the crack of dawn this morning,  on the way back from taking my son to school at 7 am and I was lucky enough to have my camera with me!  Beauty is everywhere, we just have to be open to seeing it, and take the time to enjoy it.
Tomorrow is Earth Day, and if you know me at all, then you know it's a very important day to me.  We once invited a whole bunch of people over to pick up trash, and they actually came and had a great time.
It's also the day we draw out a name to win the basket full of green living items at the shop.  So good luck to all of you who donated to a great cause.
Thanks for shopping at our store and blogging with us.  That alone tells me that you also care about this wonderful planet that we live on.   If you are interested in a "green living class" please shoot me an email.  When we get enough interest we would be happy to get that on the books.

I'm back!

I just returned from a trip to North Carolina to visit my parents in the mountains.  What a beautiful trip!
I met up with my Aunt and Uncle who have been "picking" for me, plus we shopped and shopped for treasures.   I'll be bringing in my finds Wed-Sat this week.
On the way to Hayesville from Franklin

Blue Ridge Parkway

Treasures at the cabin, left behind by loggers years ago.
Something I unearthed and reused with native plants found in the mountains.  My Aunt Jane is really into Native American history and gives everyone a N. American Indian name.  Mine is walks with a shovel!

Happy Easter Happy Spring

We have lots of "newness" in the shop....and bit's of spring blooming in pots.

Linda and I totally re-hauled all the displays to give you lots of new idea's.

She's going to kill me for this one, but my twin sister, Christine (fresh from yoga class, or maybe that's not so fresh!) stopped by to drop off some new jewelry she just finished making.  It's beautiful, and frenchy and made from recycled vintage chains and baubles.   We are also selling Urban Twist jewelry,  more rustic, and earthy and uses natural twine and bits from grandpa's tool box.  So keep us in mind for girlfriend gifts.  We also do gift certificates!

Enjoy your weekend and have a Happy Easter.

April Showers

SHOWER THE EARTH WITH KINDNESS

Today is April 1st (April Fools Day) and many of you will be heading south for Spring Vacation.   Beautiful sand beaches and sunshine.  Remember to leave these beautiful spots better then when you got there.  When my children were small,  we would take them to the park (they loved the parks)  We are fortunate to have places like this in our communities, so we would practice daily acts of kindness, we called them "good deeds".  Before we would leave we would run around for a few minutes and pick up all the trash.  It made them feel so good, and instilled life lessons in them.  You are never to old to learn, or, to give back to the community and mother nature.

If you are staying in town, we hope to see you on First Friday.  One way you'll  be able to practice some "good deeds" is by buying raffle tickets to benefit the local Unity Garden's in South Bend and you may win an awesome  "Greener Living Basket".  You can read more about this on the side margin.
Don't be an April Fool!  Practice daily acts of kindness by recycling, reusing and up-cycling!
