March News-Read All About It!

Bohemian Rhapsody

March is almost here, and we're going to liven things up! It's always nice to start the year with a clean color pallet so we started out with winter whites and shades of grey. Now it's time to kick it up in true gypsy fashion!   It's a great way to add ethnic culture and color to our tired interiors.  We have such an exciting month planned for you!

Join us at junk Evolution on First Friday, March 1
from 5-9 PM with special guest artist Dave Dale.  He’s our kind of guy!  He utilizes discarded items and turns them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind working guitars.  Up until now they've only been sold in New Orleans, but he's been working on this special exhibit just for us (it must be the luck of the Irish!)   Come and meet Dave from 5-7 pm.  His band
Elephant Rescue will play from 7-9.  If you are a music lover, you won’t want to miss this multi-talented artist!

We also invited Lyra Tirotta who will be launching her new company called "Lucky Lady Lu's."  She makes sweater clips out of vintage earrings.  She will be demonstrating the newest, hippest fashion trends.  Dig out the old cardigans and oxford styled shirts because they are back in style for Spring. This little accessory will make them look brand new!

Saint Paddy's Day Sale at the Warehouse!

1212 High Street,  past the Parks Department in the first set of gates on the left.  Parking available inside the gates.
Saturday March 16, from 9-5:00
Sunday March 17, from 12-5:00

This sale is for people who love to dig around for the deals and DIY projects.  It's a CASH and CARRY sale ONLY. So come with a wallet full of moola and a truck!   It's stuff in the rough.

EASTER is early this year (March 31) so we'll be bringing in wee bits of Spring mid-month for your celebrations.

Purple Porch Co-op is helping with the cost of the snacks this month and they came from one of their bakers.  The Co-op is moving to the building behind us as soon as they get enough pledges.  We will have a representative and information available if you are interested in having an organic, locally grown grocery store in the
neighborhood.

What's New?

New DAYS/HOURS
I think most of you have already heard about our new 3 day weeks.  Thursday, Friday 10-6:00 and Saturday 10-4.  First Fridays until 9pm.

The other exciting news is we're going to have a warehouse sale next month for those of you that like to DIY!  Sign up for our newsletter to get the scoop.  More information coming soon.

Now as far as furniture goes...
Every week it's a new story!  This week we added some  RED for Valentines Day.  A dull room can come alive just by adding a pop of color.  We love buffets because of there many uses (not to mention all the storage!)  Think outside of the box for great items like this one...how about using it for your flat screen tv, or as a dresser in your bedroom?

A great small storage box for all those valentine
love letters!

This end table could double as a pet bed by making a round
cushion for the inside.

Add a sink to this beauty for a one of a kind bathroom vanity.
The mirror below would be a perfect mate!

Vintage medicine cabinet with attached light fixtures.

Pax is making new friends :)

A perfect place for your feet at the end of a long day.

French Style 101

1.  Rust and age, natural patina of a wood, metal etc.
#2.  Linen, canvas, burlap.
We love February for the sole reason that we get to decorate the store in this style.  Our partner Gary is still trying to grasp the concept of this style (guys you know!) and allowed me to pull items out of his warehouse for the shop.  I was like a kid in a candy store! I pulled out  this great baby bed on wheels.   His response was, "What would someone want that for?"  How awesome would this be filled with dried hydrangea's on a front porch in the spring?  Or as a place to store pillows in your family room, or at a baby shower or wedding to hold the gifts?  The possibilities are endless.

We had a great crowd as always on First Friday and sold lots of great items, but these are still here, and Thursday will be a whole new load coming in.  Pops of RED for Valentines day.    Hiromi has also created some beautiful pouches for money, and keychains with crocheted hearts for the occasion.
3.  Chippy white paint

4.Layering

#5.  Furniture with curves!

#6.  Repurposing of industrial items
