Big News and some very special guests!

I've been holding out until after Christmas to share this.....  The Bergamot will be playing at junk EVOLUTION on January 7, 2011 (First Friday).  We are so thrilled to host such a talented duo in our humble shop!  Please mark your calendars and save the date.   Our hours for that day are 5-9 PM.  We will be closing the next day for a much needed winters nap and will reopen on Februarys First Friday.  So you still have a couple of weeks to get your junk fix!

Christmas Blessings

I wanted to share my favorite Christmas card with you.  It was from 1995, and it's special because
these are my children and my nieces Jade and Lyra. Their father John(Click his name for more info) and my sister Christine design the most beautiful cards to send to their clients each year.  He being a commercial photographer and she was a graphic designer.
As you can see the children took to the task in such a sincere and humble way.  There was no goofing off.  It's almost like they were really there...
For the inside of the card they included a poem from our childhood that we once wrote for penmanship practice.   I remembered it all these years!  We only changed one name.

Wasn't he sweet!  Wasn't he sweet!
There were pins and needles in my feet
from kneeling long in the frosty stall,
but I never minded the pain at all.

Wasn't she nice!  Wasn't she nice!
His lovely mother who kissed us twice.
Were those angels real, do you suppose?
and didn't they were the darling clothes?

Lets hurry Jade!  Lets hurry Jade!
We'll ask our mothers to go again.
We'll bring some candles, some fuel and some sod,
and a baby goose for the son of God.

May you be blessed with cherished memories this Christmas and be surrounded by the people that make your light shine brightly.

Peace and Love,
Char, Linda and Bernie

Great Gift Idea's

God has given us two hands, one to receive with and the
other to give with.     -Billy Graham
Gary (Carpenter Gothic) just created this wonderful
retro styled island.  Drawers on both sides and casters
on the bottom.  Pull out cutting boards and a lino top.

a mini green house for the gardener in your life.

 Unique items for gift baskets
add hot chocolate or tea for a wonderful hostess gift.

 Eggnog anyone?

A candle holder in winter, a bird bath is the summer

 Retro smoking cabinet

 Asia influenced gifts

My idea of a jewelry box.  You can hang fishhook earrings on the back and long
necklaces on the hooks at the bottom.

Vintage toys from days gone by.
 Simple joys
 Unique ornaments
 junk evolution style
Give a gift in a container that can be used over
and over.  No waste.
 Beautiful doors and wreaths
Designer lighting.  One of a kind for that one of kind person!
 A weighty option!
Sleigh bells ring are you listening?
 on the shelf, crystals glistening
a beautiful sight
We're happy tonight, walking in to a shopping wonderland.

You'll never know what you'll find!

Unconditional Love.  Selflessness. Trust. Faith. Forgiveness.  Wholeness.  Second Chances.  Comfort.  Joy.  Peace.  Reassurance.  Rejoicing.  Generosity.  Compassion.  Charity:  Wonder.  Acceptance.  courage.  To give such gifts!  To truly open our hearts to receive such gifts gratefully.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

This year my goal was to buy a real tree, support the local tree farmer, smell the fresh pine.  Then that voice in my head started in and I knew that someone could use that money for food instead.   So I got my clippers and went out to the back yard and pruned some large limbs off the bottom of my pine trees..
I stuck some bricks in the bottom of this old
industrial trash can for weight...

and made a very large arrangement of sorts, then I put the water in.
That should have been step number one.
The can leaked all over my favorite large dictionary, so I had to switch cans.
The end results are pretty much a Charlie Brown tree,
but it's haphazardness is
I dug out some ornaments that I haven't used for quite some time and went
with the nostalgic look.
Every little thing has a memory behind it.

Enjoy the little details of your holiday,
it's not the big ticket items, and the big
glittery tree.  It's enjoying the process and
making it special for our loved ones.  The
best gifts ever are the ones that are a truly a surprise,
and tug at your heart strings.
