Rocky Mountain High

Hi gang!  If you had read my previous posts, you Ed and I left on vacation heading West.  Our first stop was in Iowa, Des Moines area. We stayed with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law for a few days on the way to Colorado.  Cheryl took me junking :) and the guys went golfing.  Mike is a teacher and in the summer, for fun teaches drivers ed.  We were talking about how kids need to look 12 seconds ahead.  It's also a good rule for hiking.  Thank goodness Ed was leading because this is what we happened upon in the first 100 yards of leaving the trail head.

This little guy was 4'-5' long. Ed got close enough to take this picture.  Yes, it played a nice little tune with his rattles.  Ed asked, "So, what do you want to do?"  I asked if there was a another way up because if there wasn't, we were going to finish the hike before it even started.  Fortunately, there was another route and it was a great hike.
The wild flowers were in full bloom and every turn yeiled an awesome view.  Other then the snake we only saw birds and bugs, thank you God.

Horse Tooth Mountain,

almost there
