Preparation H (Hurricane)

Here we are in Indiana planning a fun weekend, Art Beat and Off beat and the folks along the Eastern coasts are boarding up their homes and heading for the hills.  The good news is that they give us warnings for hurricanes,  plenty of time to prepare, pack and pray.  Just want you all to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

From French to retro, February to March we’re marching to the beat of a different drummer every single month.

I think we’re all ready for a change this time of the year and with a little luck we’ll see more and more green!  That’s why we have a fun class planned for March that will definitely incorporate a wee bit o’spring!
March 4th, is First Friday so stop by for a blast from the past.  We  open the doors at 5PM until 9PM, and not a minute before!  Feel free to wear your best retro outfits, you know we will!

Tonight's the night!

It's finally beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  Here's a little peek.

This is our "Remembrance" wreath.  For a small donation you can put your name in for the drawing.  All proceeds benefit La Casa.

Gratitude

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity:  it can turn a  meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today; and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie

There is a calmness to a life lived in Gratitude, a quiet joy.

Gratitude is a twofold love-love coming to visit us, and love running out to greet a welcome guest.

After a First Friday and all the hectic chaos of getting ready, the piles, the mess, the last minute jitter's of not being ready on time...you always make it all worth it.  I'm always speechless (and you know that doesn't happen much!)  You make me realize that I love every single minute of it, and we thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts.

We're Getting Ready For First Friday!

We all keep our inventory in our basements, garages and some have rented storage.  So before the big event we drag it all out, clean it and price it etc.  This is what my house looks like before First Friday.  It's a little unnerving to some (like my husband, the neat freak, but he's such a good sport) and to think it was just clean the day before!

Linda and I started rearranging the store a day early, by the looks of our inventory you can see what our favorite season is for decorating the home!  Well, looking back we did fill a barn last year!  So this time we'll just save enough to keep it fresh and bring newness to the shop every single day!

Who are those masked men???  Just a peek at the fun to come!

It isn't the big pleasures that count the most:  it's the making a great deal out of the little ones.

SEASONS

At junk Evolution we enjoy the season's as they arrive, not months in advance.  If you shop at some of the big box stores you're tired of Christmas before it even arrives.  No, we savor every color, sound and smell that mother nature offers.  Today we gathered bittersweet for October 1st, First Friday.  Our theme for the month happens to be Bittersweet.   The store will be dancing with a flurry of fun.   Beautiful dining sets and tablescapes,  Nature in all her glory, and maybe even a witch or two!
We'll make it worth the wait for seasonal decor, so keep us in mind when you are looking for unique one of a kind items.

My husband and I took these pictures  a couple of years ago in Traverse City, MI.  One of our favorite weekend get-a-ways.

Live each season as it passes: breath the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit and resign yourself to the influences of each.
